Two announcements -- August Hunt and a New Release!

Well I'm going to talk about the hunt first, because I'm all geeked up about that hehehehe. Finally got the ad all made up for that, and I've been having all SORTS of fun re-landscaping and prim-cutting (and adding prims back :P) on Riff Raff Paradise. Here's a tip -- even though we're not quite at August yet, you'll enjoy the view much more nowadays if you put your environmental settings to midnight (Go up to your menu bar, go to Environment Settings > Midnight).

The "hunt" for the month of August is like the Hamster Hunt we held for the grand-opening of Riff Raff Paradise. Unlike the Hamster Hunt, however, this "hunt" is more of a quest. The theme is "Midsummer Night," which is why I've put up a lot of more whimsical landscaping than what was originally there.

Why is it called a quest? Because there is a definite start point, and you ARE trying to get to a definite end point. Once you reach the end, you are given a reward for getting there! Between the start and end point, you will be looking for 12blue moons hidden around the transformed plot. Each moon's location will be revealed to you through a hint. For each moon you are able to find, you receive a reward from one of us (RGK, Rebel Fairey or Alpha-Delta Designs)and a clue to the next moon in line. Once you've found the 12th blue moon, you will then be shown how to find your way to your final goal, which is where the spirits of the Quest reside.

All quests have a story -- well here it is:

Three maiden fairies long ago were abducted from the land where Riff Raff Paradise now stands. Once a year, at Midsummer, the spirits of these three fairies return to their home and take over the land, transforming everything to the way they once knew. During this time, they beseech visitors to pay a visit to them, but only if they are able to prove their cunning first. So they send their willing visitors-to-be on a journey that tests their cunning and guile. If their guests are able to pass the test, the fairies deem them trustworthy and worthy of their company. Visitors are rewarded with one last gift for their troubles.

I hope you all have as much fun going on this quest as I have in putting together all the landscaping and stuff LOL.

Having NOTHING to do with the quest is RGK's newest release, the Portable TV!

Just a fun little accessory that goes back to RGK Custom Photo Service's roots, which is to try to come up with products that help you use your textures in fun and creative ways.

Obviously, from the pic you can see it's not a "portable TV" perse, but a smartass name for basically carrying around an old-fashioned TV on your back :P LOL

The fun thing about this piece is that you can load way more than one pic to it. It's been pre-loaded to demonstrate how it works once you get pics into the thing, but basically it has an animated "TV With Static" texture, and over top of that is a prim into which you drop your own pics. The overall effect being that your textures look like faint reception of a TV show or something hehehehe.

Instructions on loading textures into this TV is included in the box. The other neat thing with this is that I've found a great NEW menu script that is MUCH simpler to use than ones that I've included in past products. I'm always on the lookout for newer and better, and I think I found it with this one :)

When you click the TV, you get options to change textures, resize, reposition AND change rotation! No posestands needed, and this is friendly to those who are not handy with using the edit tools SL gives us.

Not only is the TV itself texture-change, but so are the straps used in carrying the TV. You can choose to either texture change the TV or the straps by using submenu categories. WOOOT! So you can mix and match the textures that have been included to personalize your look!

Some cool ideas for textures you can add:
*Obviously your friends and loved ones
*messages you can make up yourself in Gimp or Photoshop (No drama, I'm a bish, etc.)
*Advertising a product or business you may own or be a part of

Just some thoughts ;)

Hope you all enjoy both these new things!

Hunts hunts and more hunts! Dude! LOL

Well, lemme tell ya LOL. I'm prolly gonna slow down a bit with the new releases because I have some hunts to take care of lmfao. Wow. LOVE them cuz they're fun, and the ideas and themes for the hunts always gets my creative juices flowing (which then causes me to run out and shop for sculpties, scripts, textures ... geez LOL).

Writing about this here as much for myself as for anyone else, because I'm nervous I'll forget about one! These are in order of occurrence (first to last):

HUNT #1 This is another hunt that will be sponsored by RGK, Alpha-Delta Designs and Rebel Fairey. For whatever reason, I couldn't find a hunt to be in during the month of August, so ... we're making our own hehehehe. Just like that Hamster Hunt we did, it will be just the three of us holding the hunt, and visitors will need to find the gifts we put out. This "Hunt" will actually be more of a "Quest." There will be a start point and an end point, with little quests to fulfill along the way. Details are upcoming, but it should be fun!

HUNT #2 Is "Freaky Fall Hunt" This should be a really fun one, and starts on Sept. 1, ends Oct. 1 so you'll have lots of freaky stuff on hand right in time for Halloween! Their blog still has just vendor application information in it, but keep going back to it so you can see who all is in the hunt!

HUNT #3 is "Dark Katz Hunt". I'm SO extremely honored and excited to be in this hunt, as this is an invite-only hunt, meaning that vendors could only get in by invitation. OMG soooo excited for it, and have such a fun idea planned for it already, I can't wait to get my hands into this project! This hunt starts September 20th and ends October 20th -- again, just in time for you to have LOTS fo goodies for Halloween. The blog is up, but doesn't have much to it yet. Keep an eye on it though, as I know there will be lots of good stuff there soon. And when the time draws nearer, they also have a flickr site where designers will post images of their hunt prizes.

HUNT #4 is "The Addiction Hunt," which starts September 1st and ends September 30th. The theme around this hunt is ... well ... addiction LOL. The idea being that those of us who go on hunts, are completely addicted to them (how true!). I love going on hunts and discovering amazing new designers I never would have found otherwise. So, this hunt will be fun and fresh and should yield some great items for everyone as well. This hunt's blog already has a list of participating vendors, so you can get a sneak peek at who will be in it.

WOW lol. So, if you don't hear from me release-wise in a little bit ummmm ... you'll know why! I'll still be putting some stuff out I'm sure, I'll just be even slower than usual :P

The Platform and a new release!

Well I've had this idea for a while, and since summer's here, seems like the perfect time to bring it to fruition LOL.

For WHATEVER reason, when I got the sky platform that is now know as "The Platform" to me, I got this image in my head of a starry evening, hanging moss, blues, and people dancing on The Platform with some blues/jazz/country kind of stuff. ESPECIALLY because it's summer, I thought of blues. I have a lot of childhood memories liking blues to hot, muggy summer nights. Whether it's because of the Jazz festivals I went to in Montreal as a teenager, or just sitting outside listening to Leadbelly watching fireflies with my brother and parents, it's a strong link for me.

SO, when I decided to also have this occasional "entertainment area" (I don't want to call it a "Club" because I really don't want to commit to a rigid schedule like a real club does), I really wanted the Grand Opening of it to pay tribute to this calling for the blues, jazz, and just sultry music in general.

Therefore, on Friday, July 17 at 6 p.m., I'll be kicking off the Grand Opening of The Platform by having a "Summer Blues" event. I'm really excited to introduce you all to the DJ who will be playing for us that night -- Thor Barenhaut. He is a friend who DJ'ed for a bit at Skull Burner, where I used to DJ myself. He currently DJs at Hotlanta, and really is a great entertainer. He has a great lineup of some really wonderful stuff that will get everyone relaxed, happy and having fun.

The event itself does have a prize attached to it -- "Summer Blues," so ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to try to win a prize worth 400L, come over on Friday wearing your best blue outfit! For the men, I'm offering my newly-release "Blues Brothers Tribute" set (pictured with this blog) and for the ladies, I'm offering my previously released "Starry Night" set of necklaces.

At the end of the 2-hour set with Thor, the winners of the event will be announced.

Sooo, that's The Platform and Friday's event ;)

I've got an event planned for Saturday as well ... but because I don't want it to get lost in a LONGASS blogpost, I'll wait to tell you all about that tomorrow LOL.

I hope to see y'all on Friday! Woot!

OMFG, 400 Members!

Dayum! Really truly, I never ever in my wildest dreams ever thought that I'd have a group with this many people in it! It just blows me away. I realize that by the standards of a Subscribe-O-Matic group, 400 members might be "small," but man, when I think FOUR HUNDRED PEOPLE stopped by somewhere, saw my stuff, and liked them enough to think "Hey, I might want to know what's going on here," geez. It's overwhelming. In a good way LOL.

To commemorate this benchmark, I sent out a group freebie that consisted of a cami for the ladies, and a t-shirt for the men. It's my first REAL attempt at making any item of clothing. Tried to make it 'cool' enough to wear around proudly LOL, hope it worked. By the looks of the response I've gotten so far, I think it probably did. Since I haven't received any pics from women yet, the pic of the chic wearing the women's 400 Members shirt is me :) Just wanted to show of what I pulled off for a first-time shirt hehehehe.

When sending out the shirts, I asked recipients to send me pics of themselves earing their shirts so I can creat some kind of collage or something ... it would help ME put faces/images to the names, and group members can see each other. Thinking I want to have a board up or something with all of us prominently displayed so people can see who the first 400 members of the RGK group are :)

You see with this blog post the first submissions (The two guys, thanks guys!!!). Love it!!! I DID ask for people to submit their pics to me by flickr, BUT, more than one person approached me saying they wanted to send me a pic but had no idea how to post to flickr ... SO, i'll just change my request to reflect that -- I just want your pics! So send 'em to me any whichway you can :)) What's most important to me is that I get a good response, I wanna see yas!

Can't wait to get more!!

For the boys!

I've always wanted to say that *snickers*

In all seriousness, I'm really excited about this newest release. Ever since I made the "Allegiance" armband for the SL Discovery hunt that just ended in June, I wanted to make matching tail and ears. Unfortunately, it always seemed like other stuff (like things for other hunts etc.) always took precedence. FINALLY, I've gotten around to it and finished!

I didn't want this to be "just another" set of tail and ears, beacuse I KNOW guys wear different style neko tail and ears than us female nekos do. We chicks who like the fluffy tails like them FLUFFY and LUSH. Guys, on the other hand, I've noticed wear either the skinny tails, or, if they go with a bushier tail, like the ones with more clear-cut tiers, not as fluffy, a bit shorter, etc. Soooo, that's what I went with. I hope I got it right guys!

In keeping with the theme in the "Allegiance" armband, I kept the gothic cross with glowing purple amethyst gem. I added to the tail, though, a bottle of "Liquidus Sanctus" (my latin translation for "Holy Water," not sure it's right tho LOL) and a pocket-bible :P hahaha.

There are also skulls and spikes, to me representing that while idea of mortality. ANNNNNDDDDD, of course, new tail, new chat options! You can visit the main store in-world and slap up the demo tail that "Newton the Noobie" is wearing LOL. He's the mannequin chained to the wall right next to the new tail vendors.

I hope everyone enjoys this new release because ... while I AM calling this a tail made with the guys in mind, *I* have been wearing the tail too, and I think it looks pretty sweet :P Like most men's items, they can easily be made unisex. If you're a female avi who wants the "Dont mess with me" look, it's a good way to go :)

PLEASE, if you have any questions or comments regarding this or any other item, you are ENCOURAGED to contact me in-world, or to leave me a comment to this blog! This blog IS YOUR TOOL OF COMMUNICATION WITH RGK, not just my tool of communication with you!

OK, I've rambled long enough. Have fun!

Late blog on my release, and happy 4th!

I'm late in putting this up here LOL. With 4th of July stuff in RL it's just been pretty much impossible for me to do everything that I usually do ... happy 4th, btw!

I was kinda chuckling to myself as I released these on Friday -- all the star-spangled 4th of July stuff was coming out, red white and blue and poofing out stars all over the place -- and there was me, coming out with this star-spangled bunch of stuff!

But really, these pieces weren't created at all with 4th of July in mind. I had been looking thru an old copy of "Jane" (I think that's what it was, who knows?) when i came across a pic of this many-tiered necklace with a heavy star theme, in silver. I loved it, and looked at the price and omg, more than 200USD in RL. Pffft. I thought (and this is when you know you play too much SL) I can MAKE one for myself in SL instead! So, I tried. What I came up with isn't exactly what I saw in that mag, but it's the same idea, hehehe.

I'm pretty proud of the looks you can achieve with "Starry Night", by wearing them apart of together. There are 2 different attachment points (spine and chest) so take your pick. Two necklaes, three looks, not bad!

The piece I'm calling "Starry Eyes" is simple, but it goes pretty well with the "Starry Night" set. It's little stars that sit right by the corner of your eye, in surgical steel. I've actually taken then inspiration for that one from Vel, who came out with some really cool face piercings, "Beauty Tears" and then omg I can't remember the name of the star ones she made for the face, but that one too. Her imagination always blows me away!

I've packaged the two together to create a "Rock Star" package, for those who wanted all the stars in one place heheheh, and discounted the total cost by more than 10%.

I hope you guys enjoy these!
